Susan Dubois and Daphne Gerling lead one of the country's largest and most comprehensive viola programs. At the heart of their teaching is an emphasis on physical ease, comfort and freedom of musical expression. The viola studio at UNT has a broad international representation with all students learning from a strong pedagogy and performance tradition, continuing the lineage and legacy of esteemed viola pedagogue Karen Tuttle. In addition to lessons, coachings and mentoring, both professors present a viola student showcase concert each year and provide numerous professional performing and teaching opportunities for their students.
