About

The UNT Classical Guitar program is internationally recognized as one of the major programs in the United Stated. The program draws a board diversity of students from many countries including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, China, Malaysia, Korea, Germany and the U.K. Many graduates have been finalists and prize winners in major International guitar competitions such as GFA, Iserlohn, Boston Guitar Fest and are active teachers at universities and conservatories internationally. At UNT the guitar student will find a social and supportive group of guitar students who are active in our community. Our Student organization, UNT Guitar Collegium, fundraises and sponsors guest artist concerts and masterclasses on a regular basis. The guitar club also organizes weekly meetings off campus where students play for one another and graduate guitarists provide mentoring. Trio Resonance, our Doctoral guitar trio, has had two successful tours of China. Guitar students interested in early music can audition for the Baroque Orchestra after reaching a proficiency level on an early plucked string instrument such as the lute or theorbo.
